The Word "Telangana" has its roots in Ancient days. This word was derived from the Name "Trilinga" which was used to identify Telugu people in Puranas and other Literary sources. Godavari River which is the lifeline of Telugu region was said to be known as "Televaha river" in Ancient days, as a consequence people inhabiting that region were called as 'Trilinga's'. In due course of time, this name has changed to Trilinga Desam and Telangana. In contrary to this, It has also been said that the word Telangana is procured from the name' Trilinga' but here it refers to a region resembling Triangle which is located in between 'Three Shiva lingas'- Kaleswaram, Srisailam and Draksharamam. These three lingas demarcated the border of the Telugu speaking region in the erstwhile Hyderabad isolating it from Marathwada and Kannada regions. However, with time, this name has changed to Triling, Telunga, Telanga and Telangana.

The Story Behind Telangana
After through years of struggle and innumerable sacrifices, Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh as 29th state on 2nd June 2014. Telangana history and culture has enormous prominence and uniqueness throughout the world.
Before Independence Telangana was an integral part of Hyderabad State, it was under the rule of many Great kings, Beginning from Satavahana's to Asafjahi Nizams Telangana has experienced enormous changes in political and as well as in cultural aspects. After Operation Polo in 1948 Hyderabad state got merged into Republic India, However later in 1956, it was amalgamated with Andhra Region in the view of forming a Telugu speaking region where Telugu was a pre-eminent language in both the states. The linguistic organisation of states has promised for the comprehensive development of the Hyderabad region in Multiple sectors and a Gentleman's Agreement has been signed between two states which led to the formation of a new state Andhra Pradesh in 1956. Although Telangana people had welcomed the idea of bringing all Telugu people under one umbrella there has been strong resentment and feeling among the people and leaders of that region that they were discriminated in ministerial posts, government employment, spending of the surplus funds belonging to the Telangana. Telangana history and culture gradually disappeared and was substituted with Andhra chronicle, their Freedom leaders and its region history supervened Academic books which left the future generations unaware about their own homeland. People of Telangana also felt that equal treatment, respect and status were not accorded to them with other counterparts of the integrated state.
Heinous undertreatment of Telangana History and culture and its negligence in the united Andhrapradesh has ignited Telangana people to fight for their integrity and freedom. Against these injustices, several agitations and struggles were upheaved in 1952, 1969, 1972, 2004-2014 which became a great movement and led to a demand for separate statehood for Telangana. People across Telangana actively participated in many movements and numberless students lost their lives and got injured during these movements. These efforts became successful and Telangana bill was approved in the parliament and finally attested by President Pranab Mukherjee on 1 March 2014 and Telangana state was officially established on 2 June 2014.
Let's hope Telangana state with its enthusiastic youth, passionate leaders, ambitious people and determined rule, would mould Telangana state to attain worldwide fame in all aspects.
