ANANTHAGIRI HILLS - OOTY OF TELANGANA
ANANTHAGIRI HILLS is a tourist destination in Vikarabad District, situated 90 km away from Hyderabad city with an average travel time of 2-3 hours. It is also called as the Ooty of Telangana and the most appropriate option for the people who love adventure and trekking. The best suitable season to visit Vikarabad is during monsoon and winter season. If you are probing for a holiday destination to spend one day either with your family or friends this is the greatest escape. This is one of the densest forests in Telangana with rampant trees creeping over the ground. There are different means of transport like train, bus, taxi, tourist buses or rental cars, but traveling by your own car will be more feasible and it is more comfortable to pause at a scenic place and capture them with your camera.
This is the first place you will come across on the way to ANANTHAGIRI HILLS. The rows of trees here will astonish you and one can't obstruct themselves from taking pictures in this beautiful location.
The Route to Vikarabad from Hyderabad has well-laid roads and offers a comfortable journey. Trees on either side of the Road are continuous and sometimes you might be lucky to see some forest animals roaming on the roads.
Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple also known as Ananthagiri Temple is located 1.8kms from Vikarabad, it was constructed 400 years ago by the Hyderabad Nizam. It is a must-visit place as the shrine here is Self-existing and said to be the most powerful one.
There are nearly 50-60 steps from the Anantha Padmanabha Swamy temple leading to the forest.
Trees here are twisted, curled and found creeping over the red soil, lush green trees with its swinging branches all over the forest will amaze the tourists while walking through them.
As coming to Trekking, There are two tracks, one which starts from the temple and the other is 2kms away from the temple. The track which is 2kms far from the temple takes you to the mountain top where Sunset can be viewed at its best and will offer a great feast for photographers who loves capturing the picturesque points.
Apart from this, about 19-20 km away from the temple there is a lake called Nagasamudram lake or Kotipally reservoir which offers a spectacular viewpoint, especially during monsoon seasons. Boating facilities are also available in this location. I recommend you to carry your own food when visiting this place, you won't find any food shops near this lake.
Camping!! Isn't that exciting?
Yes, Penguin resorts provide services to camp at ANANTHAGIRI HILLS near Sarnapally Lake and Nagasamudram lake you can book your tickets on https://penguinresorts.com at a reasonable price.
Haritha Resort is another option for the tourists who wish to stay at Ananthagiri hills, and it also has a restaurant that is near to the temple. There are some other Restaurants nearby temple and Vikarabad main town, but I advise you to carry your own stuff because the food over there is dreadful.
So, if you are peeping out for a 1day breakout then ANANTHAGIRI HILLS is nevertheless the best option.
